Use Exclusively at Night: Retinol is photosensitive (breaks down in sunlight, losing efficacy and increasing irritation), so use it only in your nightly skincare routine.
Skin Prep: After cleansing and toning (use a mild, alcohol-free toner to balance the skin’s pH), pat the toner dry. For dry or easily irritated skin, apply a lightweight hyaluronic acid serum first — this creates a "moisture buffer" to reduce retinol irritation.
Dispense & Apply: Squeeze the dropper to take 2-3 drops of the ampoule, drop it onto your palms, and gently press it onto your face (focus on areas with fine lines, such as the forehead, around the eyes, and mouth). Avoid the eye area (1cm around the eyes), nasal alar, and corners of the mouth (these areas have thin skin and are more sensitive).
Follow with Moisturizer: After the ampoule is fully absorbed (about 15 seconds), apply a rich moisturizer (preferably with ceramides or squalane) to lock in moisture and further soothe the skin. For extremely dry skin, add 1-2 drops of facial oil (e.g., jojoba oil) on top of the moisturizer.
Daytime Sun Protection: The next morning, must apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) and reapply every 2 hours if outdoors — retinol increases skin sensitivity to UV rays, and sunscreen prevents sun damage and pigmentation.
Gradual Adaptation:
Week 1-2: Use 1-2 times a week, observe for redness, peeling, or tightness.
Week 3-4: If no irritation occurs, increase to 3-4 times a week.
After Week 4: Gradually increase to nightly use as skin tolerates. If irritation occurs, pause use for 2-3 days and resume at a lower frequency.
